Family-owned retailer begins final liquidation April 9
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (April 6, 2026) — Family-owned and operated Home Furniture & Mattress is going out of business after 35 years. The whole-home furnishings retailer begins its final sale on April 9 with once-in-a-lifetime prices on all inventory.
Third-generation owner Steven Durham announced the building has sold and he will be closing the store in order to focus on future business opportunities.
“We’ve been incredibly fortunate to serve this community for so many years,” said Durham. “I’m grateful to our employees, our customers and everyone who supported our family business along the way.”
Home Furniture & Mattress opens its final sale to the public April 9 at 1725 Watson Blvd., next to Wilson Bakery. Furniture for every room in the home will be offered at deep discounts with up to 50% off all accessories. Famous name brands in living room and bedroom furniture as well as mattresses include Barcalounger, Best Home Furnishings, Catnapper, Craftmaster, Crestview Collection, Jackson Furniture, Leather Italia, Liberty Furniture, Luke Leather, Malouf, Magnussen Home, Peak Living, Sealy, Simmons, Simmons Beautyrest, Southern Motion, Stearns & Foster, StyleCraft, Tempur-Pedic and Universal Furniture.
Home Furniture & Mattress was founded in 1991 by Steve Durham, Steven’s father, an entrepreneur who developed a passion for the furniture business while working in his father’s furniture manufacturing plant. He opened the original store in Cordele where it quickly grew its reputation for high-quality furniture and excellent customer service. In 1997, Home Furniture & Mattress moved to its current location in Warner Robins. In 2006, ownership passed to Steven, who opened a second location in Lake Oconee in 2020. The Lake Oconee store closed in 2023.
